Live your best life, sober and happy.
Expectations are premeditated resentments. This always strikes a chord for me when I hear it, of course because there is so much truth in this simple statement.
When I started this journey of recovery, this is yet another piece of my puzzle that I didnāt understand or recognize. I had zero understanding that I put all these expectations on people and outcomes and situations- and then ended up mad when it didnāt go the way I thought it should go.
I know you are going to relate to this, too- because itās human nature! It is something everyone does. Addiction or no addiction- these expectations are out here running wild in the streets.
Let me give you a simple example- I caught myself in this one,Ā years ago when I just learning about expectations.
Iām driving to my boyfriend's house and Iām excited to see him, he was in a pretty good mood when we were on the phone so Iām thinking Iām going to get there and when I walk in heās going to give me a fantastic hug and heās going to be re...
Hey everybody, welcome to episode #89 of the Addiction Unlimited Podcast- Iām your Coach, Angela Pugh. Helping you get that clean and sober life you want.
Thank you for hanging out with me today, I hope your new year has been awesome so far. Iāve been thinking about you guys and wondering how many of you took some time to write down your new year intentions.
Most of my sessions in December and January are exactly this.Ā I work with a lot of people who do not have addiction struggles, too, and those clients have definitely been lining up to get their intentions on paper and get a process in place to make sure they can achieve everything they want this year.
And, many of my clients with addiction have been doing the same. And some of those who are really early in sobriety weāve been working on focusing on those micro-decisions and small victories, and also plugging in some non-drinking rewards in life. And all of that stuff is just part of my process of coaching people for maximum s...
First things first- I want to give a shoutout and say thank you for all the great reviews!
You probably donāt think too much about reviews, but in podcast world they are super important and for me, personally, itās so good to get feedback and it really keeps me going to hear from you, so thank you for taking a few minutes to write something, I love that.
And when you hear an episode you enjoy, make sure you share it with someone!
Thatās a huge part of the beauty of doing a podcast is it has the ability to reach and help so many people- and as people in recovery, we have to constantly be of service and share resources with one another to help us all get through this journey- so share this episode with aĀ few people you think would enjoy it, or pick out another favorite you listened to in the past and share it with some people- letās spread the word and stay sober!
For those of you who don't know, September is national recovery month. So I decided to do a whole month of solo episod...

There is a lot of information out there to help someone identify if they are an alcoholic or addict. And many of the criteria fit me perfectly, but some do not. I wanted to take a minute to go through some of the things I thought about in my own journey that brought me to understand that my drinking was a problem. Ā I just didnāt do it the way other people did.
Many of the symptoms you read about on checklists across the internet are very accurate and I want to cover some of those also. But in my head, noticing that my drinking was different from other people was a long process and it was just a small detail here and there that got my attention.
Iāll tell you the things that really make sense to me:
1. Do you sometimes feel guilty after drinking?
This is a big one for me. It is so simple when you think about it; when you feel badly about something you did, the implication is whatever you did was not ārightā. And I can apply this to many different areas of my Ā life. If I am thinking ...
